Jesus is God’s gift to the world. He is the most important gift God has given to mankind. ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not die but have everlasting life’. You may say but surely everyone must die, yes everyone born into this world must die physically, but God is not talking about physical death here, He is talking about a total separation from Himself. This total separation is brought about by our sin and disobedience to God. We are sinners not because of what we do but because of who we are?

You may say no I’m not a sinner, I don’t kill, I don’t cheat, but think about it, have you always told the absolute truth in every situation and circumstance, have you ever looked at another person’s possession and wish it was yours, have you ever looked at anyone and lusted in your heart after them although you have not committed the act? Then you acknowledge that you are a sinner, the problem is truly there is nothing you can do about it.

You were born a sinner; you inherited the nature and life of sin from your parents, sin in an integral part of your DNA profile. When we do wrong or misbehave in any way, we are simply living the life that we were born with. This life was collected by Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God in the garden. They were deceived; they did not decide to disobey God by themselves, no!  They were deceived by God’s arch enemy who wanted to cause a permanent rift between Adam (and all his descendants) and God who was Adam’s best friend. The bible says, ‘the soul that sins must die’ that means the soul that sins will be totally separated from God. That was the intention of this enemy and he almost succeeded.

But God demonstrated His love to us by sending His son Jesus to die the death that was due us because of our life of sin. Jesus became the scapegoat, Jesus took the rap, Jesus is the exchange for our lives. Jesus drank the cup full of our life of sin, He took it upon Himself and for the first time, God His father turned His face away from His son. He bore that life of sin to the cross and supervised the execution of your life of sin. So that you can be free to receive a new life from God the father.

Are you going to neglect such a great love, will you discard such a great sacrifice? If you are ready to accept this gift, just pray a simple prayer to the Lord now and tell Him you are ready to receive this gift.

Congratulations you are welcome into the family of God. Accepting the gift is the first step on this Journey, now you must follow Him whom you have accepted. Please see below for further information on how to proceed on this journey.

Also if you have just said a simple prayer, please e-mail us at;  discipleship@rccgsanctuary.org

Discipleship simply means following Jesus. It is the process by which the life of Jesus is reproduced in you. This life long process transforms and conforms a disciple, a follower into the image of God’s dear son Jesus Christ. Basically as you follow Jesus, you begin to look like Him not physically but in your behaviour, your attitudes, your pursuit, your relationships and ultimately in every area of your life.

Jesus is not looking for admirers or fans; He is looking for ‘Totally Committed’ followers. This process of following Jesus, this God’s family training scheme is what is called discipleship.

It is not a course of study for which you receive a certificate, it is not a series of bible studies which you start and complete. It is a life, your very life, your day to day eating, sleeping, working, studying life. It is your friendships, your relationships, your successes, your failures and how they are lived with Jesus as your example.

You do not graduate from this school, it is lifelong and the proof that you are a follower is the measure of the life of Jesus that is evident in your life.
